In Huaqiangbei electronic markets in China, just about everything is meant to be copied. And it’s no joke. Here you’ll find a maze of copied mobile phones(also known as shanzhai phones) of big brands iphone, SamSung…at a price tag of merely￥988.
If you ever doubt about the shanzhai skills of Huaqiangbei, a vivid case in point is the shanzhai iPhone 7 plus launched recently.
From a greenhand’s perspective, the appearance of shanzhai iPhone 7 plus looks almost identical to the original counterpart.
At first glance, the interface is exactly the same. However, after entering the IMEI code, the most bizarre thing happened: the android logo came out 🙂 Haha
Another new craze in Huaqiangbei is the Shanzhai Samsung S8 which came out much earlier than it’s official debut on the 29h, March 2017 in New York. The most remarkable part about original SamSung S8 lies in its unique “Infinity Display” with curved edges. The following picture is a comparison of screens(The one on the left is shanzhai version while the one on the right is original counterpart), can you spot the difference?
Now comes to the back. It’s a daunting task to tell them apart. However, if you check meticulously, there’re some differences. The shanzhai version comes without the iconic “Infinity Display”. Furthermore, icons on the interface are a bit different. The back case of original Samsung S8 features a sublime touch of glass while the shanzhai ones feel like plastic.
