The third largest metropolis in China, Shenzhen started as a humble fishing village only to swell after the Reform and Opening up policy in the 1990s when Shenzhen was opened as a special economy zone. In the years followed, it has evolved to what’s now known as the biggest electronic manufacturing hub of the world.
The relatively young city boasts a unique charm that shows in its numerous towering skyscrapers and the merchant district with a string of funky cafes, enlightened restaurants, boutique stores, splashes of contemporary arts as well as electronics wholesale markets and factories scattering around every corner of the city.
Having been to Huaqiang north electronic street uncountable times at least hundreds and thousands, today originally I was heading to the distribution center to pick up the thousands of LED bulbs we ordered but was told they would arrive in 3 hours due to heavy traffic, so I was taking a random stroll through the first electronic street of China to explore it in a different way, and perhaps gain another understanding of it as it has never ceased to impress me.
The electronic street of China is a mecca of people and electronic gadgets most of the time, but today it was not crowded.
The great thing about Huaqiangbei electronic street is the local government has been striving to improve the facilities, to some extent, Huaqiangbei nowadays is like the business card of Shenzhen as the way we address something important in China. English map of Huaqiang north scenic spot is easily reachable at the entrance of the street, moving police cars, police stations are constantly within easy reach whether you’re looking for directions or just simply need help charging your phone that runs out of electricity. 🙂
I made my way to Huaqiang electronic world, my most favorite and frequented Shenzhen electronic wholesale market. It was busy inside the wholesale market that houses a miscellaneous multitude of electronic knick knacks, led components, cameras and computers, a fun and quirky experience for electronic fans.
