Importing Electronics from China – How to Ship Internationally

Shipping costs can either make or break the profit margin of a business. When it comes to importing electronics from China, lots of factors come into play. Following are some simple guidelines for international shipping from China.

2 Ways for Importing Electronics from China

1. By Air

* Express Shipping

For those who are importing electronics from China with priority on fast delivery time from door to door, international carries like DHL, Fedex, UPS or certain special airlines operated by some shipping agents are a much preferred choice.

The shipping cost is usually calculated either by weight or dimension, depending on which costs more.

Dimension cost is charge by length*width*height/5000. For example, if you ship 200 pieces of LED lights to EU by DHL, the actual weight is 8kg, while the dimension weight is 9kg, then you’ll be charged by dimension.

* China Post

China post is the most economical way to ship electronics especially to remote regions. The shipping cost is about one third of what express carrier charges. However, shipping time usually takes about 20-60 days.

* Airport to Airport

Shipping from airport to airport is much more economical and faster than express shipping. However, you have to arrange delivering to the airport in China and also pick up from destination airport.

2. By Sea

* LCL

LCL is short for less than container load shipping by sea. If you ship less than 3 CBM it’s suggested to choose other ways of shipping than LCL as in China everything shipment will incur fixed fees for document, port and tax that would total around $100-$150. Besides, you also have to pay for the shipping fees.

* Full Container

Full container load shipping is for big orders and is the cheapest way of shipping. There’re three capacities of containers:

20GP: 26CBM

40GP: 54CBM

40HQ: 68CBM
